Altay is a director, editor and producer based in New York City. He served as a co-producer and cinematographer on his first short documentary film, Sound of Street. Filmed in Istanbul, it won the Mansion Award. Misión Flamenca, his second short film, was screened at various international film festivals, including San Francisco Dance Film Festival. He was the producer, director, cinematographer and editor. 

Altay earned a Master’s Degree in Media Management from Parsons, The New School, a certificate in producing from UCLA, a certificate in editing at the Edit Center in New York, and studied screenwriting with master teachers from UCLA and USC.

He worked as an additional editor on Katy Scoggin’s Flood, whose film credits include Oscar winner Citizenfour, and Sundance winner The Oath. Altay was an additional editor on Jeremy Xido’s new feature length film, Sons of Detroit. A Fulbright and Guggenheim recipient, Xido’s previous documentary Death Metal Angola won the grand prize at the Rhode Island International Film Festival. In addition to narrative and documentary films, Altay has produced and edited branded content for clients including Google and Uber. 

Altay holds dual citizenship in the United States and Turkey.
